Classical Pilates vs. Contemporary Pilates

Hi everyone – it’s Amanda with Fitness Blender and today I want to talk about Classical Pilates vs. Contemporary Pilates.

Classical and contemporary Pilates both stem from the original method developed by Joseph Pilates for injured soldiers during WWI, but they differ in how that method is applied today. Classic Pilates follows a traditional sequence of exercises performed in a specific order, with a strong focus on precision, flow, and staying true to the original system of exercises.

Contemporary Pilates, on the other hand, includes a wider variety of exercises and movement options, giving instructors more flexibility to adapt sessions for different goals, fitness levels, and bodies. https://gofb.info/TotalCardioPilates

Both styles aim to improve strength, control, and body awareness—just through slightly different approaches.
