How To Connect Nest Thermostat To Alexa (All Generations)

We teach you how to connect Nest Thermostat to Alexa for voice control.
Nest Thermostat Gen 3:

These instructions will work for the Nest Gen 1, Nest Gen 2, Nest Gen 3, and Nest E Thermostat. These generations of Nest Smart Thermostat were designed to work on the Nest App where as other generations of Nest Thermostat were designed to work on the Google Home App.

In order to connect your Nest Thermostat to Alexa for voice control you must set it up on the Nest App and have it properly working and connected to wifi.

You will also need to download the Google Home app and connect the Nest App to the Google Home App, which should automatically happen as long as you use the same Google Account for set up of the Nest App and Google Home app.

****Make sure you use the same Google Account for setting up the Nest App & Google Home App so that the information automatically imports.****** If you don’t do this you will need to set up the Nest thermostat in the Google Home Account and connect the Nest App and Google Home account in the Google Home App. You can connect the accounts by clicking add a device in the Google Home App.

You will also need the Alexa App set up and installed and an Alexa device set up and connected to the Amazon Alexa App.

If you are having issues setting up your Google Nest Thermostat with Alexa if you already have the Google Nest Skill Enabled, disconnect the skill in the Alexa app and re-enable it.

How To Connect Amazon Alexa to Nest Thermostat
1) Make sure your Amazon Alexa Device is connected and properly working. Make sure your Nest Thermostat is connected to the Nest App & Google Home app and properly working.
2) Open the Amazon Alexa App, click on the menu button at the bottom of the app in the middle. Then select “Alexa Skills”
3) Search for “Google Nest” in Alexa Skills
4) Select the Skill and Click “Enable To Use”
5) Follow the in app instructions to connect Nest To Alexa and make sure you use the game Google Account you used on the Nest and Google Home account to connect to Alexa.
