✈️ BED BUGS on Viking River Cruise Boat “Jarl” on the Danube in Budapest, Hungary 🐞 Here are travel tips if this happens to you plus the synopsis:

Long story short, because of the September 2024 flooding of the River Danube, we were on our 3rd Viking River Cruise boat in less than a week. Upon boarding late afternoon on Sept 19, we left our luggage on the entrance to our cabin and explored Budapest.
I asked for one extra pillow to be added to our room for this last evening since we had just boarded this new ship, Viking Jarl.

After dinner and walking the beautiful city, my knees were swollen so I laid perpendicular to the bed and propped my feet high on the wall of the bathroom BUT FIRST I saw what I thought was a flat ladybug but because I had watched The Perfect Couple, I did not smush it.
So I laid sideways for about 20 minutes (not using any pillows) while hubby took a shower.
Then I took a shower and when I came out, my husband said, “Ooh there’s another ladybug; could it be bed bugs?”

When we pulled up my pillows there were 4+ bed bugs the size of a tic and 2 small ones. But when we pulled up the edge of the sheets, there were at least 10+ tiny tiny bed bugs crawling very fast!
Immediately we asked housekeeping what to do. They reacted swiftly! We switched rooms on the same floor.

*I wish I would have asked for them to launder all of our clothes in high heat.
**I wish I could warn the next passengers who will stay in room 216 on the Viking Jarl on Sept 20, 2024!!!
